Fairyring: Mac Remote Desktop · Privacy policy
Fairyring Privacy Policy
How the remote desktop app handles saved Macs, passwords, local network access, ads in the free version, and Fairyring Pro.
Publication noteFairyring is in development and not yet available on the App Store or Google Play. Ads and Fairyring Pro are being built; this policy describes the app as it will be released.
1. Privacy overview
Fairyring is a remote desktop client, published by MD HABIBUR RAHMAN under bee n moss, that connects your iPad, iPhone, or Android device directly to a Mac you control, using the Screen Sharing built into macOS.
Fairyring itself collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no Fairyring servers. The free version shows ads from Google, described below.
2. Your Mac details stay on your device
When you connect, your username and password are sent, encrypted by Apple’s Screen Sharing sign-in, directly to the Mac you chose.
- Each saved Mac’s name, address, port, and username, stored only on your device.
- Passwords, only if you choose to save them, stored in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore. Turn off Save password to be asked every time.
- Your app settings, such as pointer mode, toolbar layout, and display quality.
3. Direct connections and local network
- Fairyring connects straight from your device to your Mac. Your screen and keystrokes never pass through a Fairyring server, because there isn’t one.
- It uses local network access only to find and connect to Macs on your Wi-Fi, and briefly checks whether your saved Macs are reachable while the app is open.
- Screen Sharing encrypts the sign-in but not the screen image, so away from home Fairyring recommends Tailscale or another VPN. Never open port 5900 on your router to the internet.
4. Ads in the free version
The free version shows non-personalised banner ads from Google AdMob, on the Macs list and in the empty space around your Mac’s picture during a session, never on top of it. To serve an ad, count views and clicks, and prevent fraud, Google receives limited technical data such as your IP address, device type, operating system, and the app’s identity.
Ads are not based on your interests or history, and Fairyring doesn’t track you across apps or ask for your device’s advertising ID. Where the law requires it, such as in the EU and UK, Google asks for your consent first, and you can change it later in Settings. Google’s privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy
5. Fairyring Pro
Fairyring Pro removes all ads, and with them the ad data described above. Payment is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play; Fairyring never sees your payment details or identity, only whether the subscription is active.
6. Face ID, fingerprint, and other services
If you turn on the app lock, your device’s own biometric check is used, and Fairyring never receives biometric data. If you choose to use Tailscale or another VPN, that service’s own privacy policy applies to it.
7. Retention and deletion
Saved Macs, passwords, and settings stay on your device until you remove a Mac in Fairyring, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall it. Ad and store records are kept by Google and Apple under their own policies. See the data-deletion page for the steps.
8. Children and changes
Fairyring is not directed at children under 13. If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
9. Contact
For privacy questions, email [email protected]. Never send a Mac password by email.
