Can’t reach my Mac
- Is your Mac awake? A Mac that is fully asleep can’t answer. Turn on Prevent automatic sleeping in System Settings → Battery (or Energy) while it is plugged in.
- Is Screen Sharing on? System Settings → General → Sharing → Screen Sharing.
- Same Wi-Fi: are both devices on the same network, and not a guest network? Has the Mac’s address changed after a router restart?
- Away from home: is Tailscale on, on both devices, and does the Mac show as connected in the Tailscale app?
It says my password is wrong
- Use your Mac’s username (its short account name) and the password you unlock your Mac with.
- Check that your user is allowed under Screen Sharing → ⓘ → Allow access for.
It’s slow, blurry, or black
- Turn on Data saver in Settings when you are on mobile data.
- Choose a single display (View → Choose display) if your Mac has several screens.
- A black screen usually means the Mac is at the login window or its display is asleep. Tap or press a key to wake it.
- If ⌘ shortcuts don’t work, change Settings → Keyboard → ⌘ key sends to Meta.
Fairyring Pro
- Pro is linked to the Apple ID or Google account that bought it. On another device signed in to the same account, use Restore purchase.
- A pending payment, including Ask to Buy, does not unlock Pro until the store confirms it.
- Cancel in the App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Uninstalling Fairyring does not cancel Pro.
What to include
Include the app version, device model, operating-system version, your macOS version, how you connect (same Wi-Fi or Tailscale), and what happened. Never send your Mac’s password or a store receipt.
